Warm Things for Cold Days

Um....BURR.

I don't know where you are, but I'm guessing it's cold - because I'm in South Carolina and it's 20 degrees! We only got a little bit of snow, but we managed to make a tiny snowman. My son has named him Bob.

Fun fact: Bob's scarf is made out of a scrap of fabric from a bridesmaid's dress I wore in my sister's wedding circa the early 90's. When my mom asked if I knew what it was I guessed an old couch. It looks like upholstery. πŸ˜‚ Luckily those photos were before digital pictures existed! πŸ˜…

Anyway, if there's anything I want in weather like this, it's cozy, warm things to eat and drink. There's something about holding a warm, comforting mug of hot cocoa or a bowl of soup that just makes the cold a bit more bearable.

3-Ingredient Hot Chocolate

Hot chocolate is a classic cold weather past-time. Ditch the ultra processed packet and make your own from scratch with just three ingredients. I use almond milk to keep it dairy free, but you can use whatever milk you have on hand. Same goes for the sweetener - I use coconut sugar for the lower glycemic index, but you can use whatever sweetener you prefer. Get the recipe here.

Dirty Chai Latte

While my kid prefers the hot chocolate, I always go for a dirty chai. A little sweet, a little spicy, a little caffeine - it's got all the things I want in a warm drink. I'm always on the hunt for a good one at coffee shops, but I love to make my own at home. Get the recipe here.

Dairy Free Creamy Broccoli Soup

When I was younger, I didn't even eat vegetables. Look at me now, writing love letters to broccoli and making full meals out of it. This creamy broccoli soup is perfect with some crusty sourdough or gluten free rolls. Get the recipe here.

Winter Warmer Beef Stew

Does anyone have a line on white sweet potatoes? 🍠 πŸ˜… I've had to come to terms with making this one with regular potatoes, but man do I crave those white sweet potatoes in it. They don't sell them at any of the stores near me, and our crop last year didn't make it. Regardless, I'm still making this stew every winter because it's the perfect cold weather meal! Get the recipe here.

What's your favorite cold-weather recipe? Hit me up and send it my way - I'm freezing over here!

Once you hit your 40's, you start fighting aging. (And if you're in your 30's and reading this - start now!) From wrinkle creams to special pillow cases, to countering strength loss, it seems like there's no shortage of both things being sold to you and told to you to help you fight the battle. It can be hard to sift through all the noise, and there's a lot of it. But there's one thing I don't compromise on - protein intake. Prioritizing protein: -combats muscle loss -helps with joint health...

Hi friend! Are you looking at this email title going "WTF is Infinity Medium?" I'm sure you're not the only one. Stick with me and I'll explain: By the end of January, the excitement of a fresh start can fade, routines can feel heavy, and even the best intentions around healthy eating start to wobble. This is usually the point where we think we need more motivation β€” when what we really need is less pressure. This is your reminder that staying the course doesn’t mean being perfect. It means...

Hi, and happy Saturday! Can we pause for a moment and talk about how we're only halfway through January? HALF. WAY. As in, we just finished the whole Christmas-New Years smorgasborg 2 weeks ago. It feels like months have passed! But -no. Here we are, 17 days into January, plugging along. In lieu of lofty, unmet goals and resolutions, the gym I coach at is doing something I used to do at my gym as well - we called it a "habit stacking" challenge. It works like this: The first week, you're...
